Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)

In ICSI, a single sperm is injected into an egg to assist fertilization in couples with severe male factors or low fertilization rate (<30%) in a previous IVF cycle.

It can lead to a slight increase in the risk of sex chromosome disorder, about 1-1.5% after ICSI compared to 0.5% after natural conceptions or conventional IVF pregnancies.
